Your Stay
No one looks forward to a hospital stay. At Northwest Health - La Porte, we work hard to make sure your visit is as pleasant as possible. Here are a few things you should know that can help make your time with us restful and healing.
Wheelchairs
A team of guest relations’ representatives and hospital volunteers will be happy to get you a wheelchair when you arrive at the hospital. Please ask any team member for assistance or visit the information desk.
Flowers and Mail
Any mail or flowers addressed to you will be delivered to your room. Any mail received after you have been discharged will be forwarded to your home address. Flowers are not allowed in the intensive care units.
Some patients choose to keep their stay in the hospital private. If you have asked us to not tell anyone that you are here by registering as a “non-disclosure” or “no information” patient, the team cannot confirm that you are a patient at the hospital. However, if a florist has your hospital room number, we can accept flower deliveries and bring them to your room.
To send mail to a patient at Northwest Health - La Porte, please use the following address:
Patient Name/Room Number
Northwest Health - La Porte
P.O. Box 250
La Porte, IN 46352
Phone Calls
To assist people outside the hospital system to dial directly to your room, have them call the hospital main number at 219-326-1234; press 1; then enter your room number followed by the # sign.
Nutritional Care
Wholesome, nourishing and well-balanced meals are an important part of your treatment and recovery. Northwest Health - La Porte maintains a staff of full-time registered dietitians to meet your dietary needs during your stay. Each day you will receive a menu planner to choose the following day’s meals. If you are on a special diet prescribed by your doctor, your menu will be tailored to meet your specific needs.
Valuables
Please leave all personal valuables at home or send them home with a friend or family member. Northwest Health - La Porte is not responsible for personal valuables for patients, family members and those who may visit you while you are a patient in the hospital.
