Famous Indiana composers to be featured in First Friday chapel series
3/28/2016
3/28/2016 (La Porte, IN) - Indiana has a rich musical history with tunes from famous composers that conjure nostalgia in some, and open a whole new world of music to others. The wildly successful Hoosiers in Music - Celebrating 200 Years by the La Porte Little Theatre recently took audiences back to the tunes that carried Hoosiers through multiple generations, into their homes, schools, churches, theaters and more. On April 1, vocalists will bring to life choice selections from this ensemble at the First Friday in the Chapel Series. The program begins at noon, in the La Porte Hospital Family Chapel, 1007 Lincolnway, La Porte. It is free and open to the public, and attendees are welcome to bring a lunch.
Several generations of music will come to life when beloved local performers Bruce Johnson, Rose Marie Dure, Robert Dure, John Bello, Sheryl Edwards, Cheryl Gardner, Susie Richter, and Jim Lampl take the mic. They will sing compositions by equally beloved famous musicians and composers such as Paul Dresser, Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, the Gaithers, Sandi Patty, Crystal Gayle, and others.
The First Friday in the Chapel series offers outstanding musical performances each month. It is made possible by the La Porte Hospital Foundation Chapel Fund for holistic health body, mind and spirit.
