La Porte Hospital would like the community to know about various support groups in October.
Al-Anon Group
This Group offers hope and help to families and friends of alcoholics and meets every Friday 10 a.m. at The Crossing, 1203 Washington St., La Porte. Contact Susie Smith at (219) 362-9280.
Diabetes Support Group
The Diabetes Support Group provides a place to share ideas, experiences, and problems related to diabetes for those with diabetes, as well as their support team. The group meets the fourth Monday of the month from 11 a.m. – Noon, in the Heart & Vascular 1st Floor Conference Room, 901 Lincolnway, La Porte, or the fourth Tuesday of the month from 11 a.m. – Noon in the Second Floor OB Conference Room at Starke Hospital, 102 E. Multiple Sclerosis Self-Help Group
Providing emotional and social support to patients, families, and caregivers affected by multiple sclerosis, this groups meets at 6 p.m., the second Tuesday of every month (except Dec, Jan, Feb) in the
La Porte Hospital Auditorium, 1007 Lincolnway, La Porte. Contact Kathy May at (219) 874-2681.
Parkinson’s Support Group
Supporting those with Parkinson’s disease, their families, and caregivers in adapting more positively to the physical, emotional, and social changes associated with the disease. The group meets at 2:30 p.m., every third Tuesday at Brentwood Assisted Living, 2002 Andrew Ave., La Porte (park in back and use back door). Contact Sherri Moorehouse at (219) 362-5749.
WeCAN (Cancer Support Group)
Have you been affected by a cancer diagnosis? WeCAN provides patients, families, and caregivers a chance to share experiences and learn new ways of coping with the disease process. The group meets from 5-6 p.m., the third Wednesday of every month at the Heart & Vascular Center, 1st Floor Conference Room. Contact Teresa Tuholski at (219) 785-3444.
Women Heart
This group offers support and education on living a heart healthy life and meets at 6:30 p.m., the 2nd Thursday of every month at the Heart & Vascular Center, 1st Floor Conference Room. Contact Sue Chlebek at (219) 324-7519.
