Songs of Praise and Worship Theme for October’s First Friday in the Chapel

At a time when many are feeling the strain of worldly events, two talented and inspirational musicians will share their music with the community during the October First Friday in the Chapel at La Porte Hospital. “I Am Not Alone: Songs of Praise and Worship” is the theme, presented by Sue McLain and Andrew Tallackson of worship team with La Porte First Church of God. The program is at Noon, Oct. 6 in the La Porte Hospital Family Chapel, 1007 Lincolnway, La Porte.

The program selections are: “What a Beautiful Name” by Hillsong United; “Clean” by Natalie Grant; “I Am Not Alone” by Kari Jobe; “All I Have Is Yours” by Sojourn Music; “I Shall Not Want” by Audrey Assad; and “I Look to You” by Whitney Houston.

McLain has been singing Christian music for 30 years, and has been a member of the First Church of God’s worship team for many years. She has performed The National Anthem on several occasions before South Bend Cubs games. In 2013, she and Tallackson served as vocal coaches for La Porte High School’s Grace Tarnow, then 13 and appearing in John Hancock’s “The Looking Glass.” Happily married for 14 years to Earl McLain, she is the proud Mom and Nana to three sons and two grandchildren.

Tallackson, the editor of The Beacher Weekly Newspaper in Michigan City, graduated from the Emerson School for Visual and Performing Arts, Gary, with a concentration in piano and violin, then studied piano at Indiana University-Bloomington. In 2004, he and Steve Gonzalez formed the Young People’s Theatre Company. He served as a co-producer on John Hancock’s “The Looking Glass,” then last month reteamed with Hancock to play keyboard in “Three Oaks Against the World,” an original musical created for the village’s sesquicentennial. His main focus is playing keyboard on the First Church of God worship team. He and his wife, Alice, a Crichfield Elementary School kindergarten teacher, have one son, Will, a fifth-grader at Crichfield. They live in Trail Creek.
